Lin Wood’s Mercer legacy: Prominent pro-Trump lawyer and Mercer Law grad calls Mercer students ‘brainwashed’

L. Lin Wood, a Mercer Law graduate and prominent pro-Trump lawyer, pledged a donation of $1 million to the school in 2016. In return, the school named a courtroom after him. Since then, he has amassed a large social media following due to his support of conspiracy theories surrounding the 2020 presidential election. He called Mercer Law students "brainwashed" after a Zoom call with Dean Cathy Cox where they discussed the future of his legacy at Mercer.
“I have seen the difficulties in balancing both sides of the scales,” current participant Randall Edwards says. “I have learned that while the roles of criminal defenders and prosecutors appear only adversarial, they are in fact both tasked with ensuring a fair balancing of our justice system.”
