The Dulcimer opens submissions for new edition, "Distortion"

The Dulcimer, Mercer University's official literary and arts magazine, is encouraging students to submit their literary and creative works for this year's edition of the magazine.

The upcoming volume, titled "Distortion," is open for submission until Feb. 15, 2025. The Dulcimer editorial team encourages Mercer students, faculty and alumni to submit their original stories, poems, plays, artwork, photography and more.

“The Dulcimer gives everyone on campus an opportunity to share their creativity, regardless of their major and background," Tamaya Morrison ‘26, an editor for The Dulcimer, said. "You don't have to be an art major or creative writing minor to contribute.”

The student-run publication showcases a diverse array of creative works, including poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, and visual art, all contributed by Mercer students, faculty and alumni. The Dulcimer has achieved numerous accolades throughout its years of publication, including a Gold Medalist Critique from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association, the highest distinction offered by the organization, for its 2020-2021 edition, "Labyrinth."

“The Dulcimer strives to make sure all Mercer students can have their talents seen and celebrated by their peers and the surrounding community," Morrison said. She also emphasized that “The Dulcimer has been a crucial element of student life on campus,” inviting everyone to participate.
