Mercer Medicine will be sponsoring a flu clinic on Mercer's Macon campus and is encouraging students, faculty and staff to take advantage of the opportunity.
An email sent to the Mercer community Oct. 4 lists the five dates on which the school will be administering free flu shots.
Flu shots will be available in the Connell Student Center Oct. 13 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Vaccines are also being offered at the Mercer School of Medicine Oct. 18 from 8:30 a.m. to noon, Oct. 19 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and Oct. 28 from 8:30 a.m. to noon. The shots will be administered in Room 1B.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that everyone 6 months and older get a flu vaccine every flu season.
"The combination of flu and coronavirus carries higher health risks,” said Dr. Jean Rawlings Sumner, dean of Mercer’s School of Medicine, to The Den. “That’s why it makes this year more important than ever to get your flu vaccine.”
There is no need to schedule an appointment with Mercer Medicine, and those who plan to get flu shots should come prepared with their insurance card and Bear Card.
