Kicking off the academic year in style, Hardman Hall’s annual Art Faculty Exhibition featured a fantastic array of paintings, photographs, digital imaging works, and prints, many of which came from Mercer University’s own fine arts department.
While art professor Eric O’Dell explains that the gallery is an excellent opportunity for the faculty to really “display the energy of the department,” the roster is not entirely comprised of staff artists. Professors at other universities, local Macon-area artists, and professionals from across the country made contributions as well, featuring works from artists such as Hazel Cardwell, Judy Tucker, and Jim Bert.
The faculty showing closed with a reception on Monday, Sept. 21 at 6 p.m., but that certainly wasn’t the end of Mercer’s fine arts season. From Sept. 28 through Oct. 23 the gallery will feature sculptures and audio art by Ernesto Gomez, followed by a Nov. 2 through Nov. 30 painting and mixed-media feature of artist Charlie Agnew.
