Mercer baseball player Nate Moorhouse was arrested and charged with second degree burglary after reportedly kicking in a door at Envy Nightclub early Friday morning, according to a news release.
As of Saturday, he has been released from jail.
A witness called police around 12:40 a.m. Friday saying a white male with “floppy” brown hair was kicking the front door of the downtown Macon business located at 420 Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
When police arrived, Moorhouse had already kicked his way into the nightclub.
Deputies found Moorhouse hiding in an area inside the business, the news release said.
Moorhouse, 23, was arrested and transported to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Complex. He was charged with second degree burglary, and his bond was set at $8,450.
According to an article by The (Macon) Telegraph, Mercer’s head baseball coach said they will “definitely have some sanctions for him.”
Moorhouse, a senior outfielder, played 42 games in 2014, making 33 starts in left field. He batted .281 with 13 extra-base hits. He redshirted in 2013 after a serious leg injury, so he continues to have eligibility on the team.
