For the past week, homecoming fervor has taken over the student body at Mercer University. The theme this year was Mercer Loves the 90's, and students came together after a fierce week of competition to support the Bears in their victory of 66-57 over Emory at the homecoming game Nov. 12.
The Alpha Tau Omega/Phi Mu team turned out the most participation and was honored with first place in a close competition at the Mercer v. Emory homecoming game. Jordan Locke and Christina Vasquez, nominees of the Student Government Association were declared homecoming king and queen, respectively.
Greek and other student organizations partnered to compete in daily categories, from Banner and House Decorating to the widely-anticipated Skit and Lip Sync competitions. Participation was counted for each organization at each competition and at events this week, including Trivia Night, Picture on the Patch and the comedians Frangela. Leading up to the Lady Bears' basketball game Thursday night, the competition was a close call between Alpha Tau Omega/Phi Mu and Chi Omega/ Alpha Delta Pi, who placed second in the competition.
