Body By Vi an unhealthy waste of time, do it the old fashioned way
If you’re friends with a few select people on campus, odds are you heard of something called the Body By Visalus 90 Day Challenge (BodyByVi).
Visalus Sciences came up with a weight loss program that provides incentives to their top distributers. For every person you sign up, you have the potential to gain free meal replacement shakes, money, or even a “free” BMW.
So the whole point of this so called “challenge” is to scam your friends into buying weight loss supplements with the false hopes of winning free swag. One of the girls on the “challenge,” who I spoke to, regrets ever joining this program. She was told she had the potential to make 600 to 1000 dollars a week.
Well, she didn’t, because she’s not at the top of the pyramid.
For example, if Steffie starts the 90 day challenge, and she gets her friend Davey to join, every person Davey signs up counts for Steffie as well. Once you reach a certain amount of sales, you start making money. Well the problem is that like with any pyramid scheme, these things fizzle out if you are all in the same demographic, and the only person benefiting will be the person who started the whole fad. At Mercer, if you started the “challenge” late, you would have no one to sell to unless you left campus, because everyone stupid enough to join already did.
From how I’ve heard it described, there are several different types of shakes that “help” you with different things.
The one I’ve read the most about is the ViShape kit. This kit requires that you replace two meals a day with one milkshake, I repeat, one milkshake. So instead of sitting down for a hearty breakfast or a nice dinner, you simply sip this concoction through a straw.
I agree, that for some morbidly obese people, this meal replacement shake can do wonders, but as for the people promoting the “challenge” on campus, it would not do anything substantial for them because most are athletes.
I find it baffling that athletes, who are sometimes required to work out for 20 hours a week, replace two meals a day according to what the “challenge” tells you to do. The only “challenge” that I see is trying to stay alive.
Beware, the exclusive group that I like to refer to as the BodyByViers, seem somewhat cultish when it comes to marketing their product. Not only do they bombard Facebook with this so called challenge, but if you disagree with them, they spit out random facts as if they were automatons.
Every day I log onto Facebook and I know for a fact that I will see something about Body By Vi.
It’s gotten to the point where I’ve deleted friends, hidden people from my news feed, or simply refuse to log onto Facebook during the most intense Body By Vi hours. Whether it’s doctored pictures, congratulatory posts, or even the occasional Facebook status war between the BodyByViers and us normal people, I cannot escape this craziness.
If you’re serious about losing weight, I say take the old fashioned approach. Go on a jog. Eat a salad. Ride a bike. Play sports. Don’t starve yourself.
Mercer students, please, and I repeat please, do not join the vicious ways of this cult-like weight loss group. You’ll be filled with false hope and no results. Body By Vi? More like Body By WHY?

This is prehaps one of the most poorly written articles i have seen. You are frre to voice your opinion, however facts are facts. Please research the content of your article before writting. The program may not be for everyone, but it has worked very well for myself and family. I encourage everyone to do their due diligence.
Next time you call something poorly written, I suggest you spell check and/or proof read what you submit to be published online. It just makes you look uneducated.
I feel really bad for you. And feel bad for all the other poor students who just wasted 5 minutes of their lives reading such an uneducated and biased article.
I’ve talked to many students not associated with Body By Vi and they same to love my article. In fact, I’ve received praise from many of my peers. Did they think they wasted their 5 minutes reading my article? I think not.
*seem
Check the facts!! Haha this is pathetic.
Ive been looking into joining the bodybyvi 90day challenge but I’ve been doing lots of research about it and ive been trying to find some negatives because it seems to be too good to be true! This is the only site I could find. So is it really a scam? A kid from my high school in Sacramento does it but I’m not really good friends with him. Can you ellaborate?
email me at [email protected]
Amen, eat a good meal and work-out. Don’t starve yourself.
That article was the most pathetic thing I have ever seen. You made
yourself look stupid amongst hundreds of college students due to your
lack of ability to do research and write a decent article. You wrote
many false statements throughout the whole thing. Like the “ViShape
Kit”… Look up shape kit and tell me what it says. I feel bad for you
that you had to waste that much of your time to hate on something that
gives people more success then you, and most people, will ever be able
to have. I have friends that have said as much as they possibly can to
put Visalus down just to make themselves feel better, just like you
did. I mean face it, your sorry ass attitude and close mindedness is
gunna get you left behind, which is fine because they really don’t
want negative people in something that is so good to intoxicate it
anyways. But it bothers you to not have the success that they have,
jealously maybe, jealous that the girls are actually stepping up and
making a change in their lives to better their futures and you haven’t
or can’t do that. Let me guess, you probably go out and waste your
money on booze, depend on getting a degree to graduate in the hopes of
getting a decent job, and your life revolves around what other people
are doing instead of worrying about yourself. Because I don’t care
what your connection is to that site, writing a negative blog about
other people’s success just proves you’re unhappy with your own life
so you have to put other happy and successful people down. Let me give
you a tip.. Change your attitude and be open minded or else you will
be stuck in a miserable life forever. Don’t you want more for people??
Who cares if you agree with it or not, sorry to tell you it works! And
the company is legit.. Again do your research. I just turned 21 and am
making a 6 figure income already from just making one decision to step
up and make a change for myself. What does your life look like??? Have
a great day, I’m done wasting my time here, just wanted to give you
another opinion since you seem to be more concerned with what others
do and say then what you think for yourself. Thanks for the
entertainment. Hope the students don’t waste their time reading that.
The fact that you knock my hopes of receiving a diploma and getting a college degree, makes you lose all credibility in anything you say. That’s just absurd.
I would never sell such crap to anyone. Because I know what’s in this product now, I would feel aweful making money giving it to anyone.
BAHAHAHAHAHA XD So, you’re at Mercer in hopes of graduating without a college degree?
lolz, good one. Do tell another :3
Just curious, what do you plan on doing when this Body By Vi fad ends, and you’re no longer making that 6 figure income? After all, getting a degree is just silly. I’m sure McDonalds would be more than willing to hire you though.
All of the responses to this article are personal attacks. That says something about the article itself (and those responding to it).
Those responding to it only prove my point further. I’m currently writing a follow up article about the aftermath of an opinion. Stay tuned!
I sincerely hope you understand that your name will forever be attached to this poorly written piece of work. In March alone over 150,000 people joined the challenge, this number is only going to increase each and every month. By the time you are out of college and looking for work it is inevitable that Visalus will have over a billion people involved with the company. It is extremely likely that someone you hope to work for one day will in fact be a part of Visalus sciences. If they are a reputable employer they will most likely use the internet as a source to learn more about you. They will quickly discover that you are a “journalist” who fails to check facts, reports biased, uneducated opinions, and clearly wastes a great deal of time attempting to bring others down. In the end those involved with the challenge will continue to reach their health goals and obtain financial freedom regardless of anything you have to say. In the future, I truly hope you consider the reflection that your work will have upon you and the implications it could have for your career. I wish you the best of luck in all of your future endeavors and hope you are able to come to peace with yourself so you no longer have to bring down the success of those around you.
Opinion :
a personal view, attitude, or appraisal.
I simply stated an opinion on how I feel about the people that associate themselves with Body by Vi. Any “journalist” who looks into hiring me, will know that this is only an opinion. All of my other work (that is not an opinion) is well researched and filled with interviews. Is that necessary for an opinion? No, because it is simply that, an opinion. I am not bringing down anyone’s success. You made money! Great for you, but at who’s expense? This is where my argument lies, the motives behind the people associated with Body By Vi. Do I have anything against them outside of this product? No. Do I think this product is a lie filled with false hopes? Yes. Trust me, there will be no implications of this opinion in my future endeavors. Body By Vi will not take over the world, it has struggled to take over Mercer’s campus. I apologize that my “personal view” fails to agree with yours, and you have every right to disagree with me, as I do you. I hope that when you apply for a real job, the only thing that you have to put on your resume isn’t Body By Vi. Have a nice day.
“this product is a lie filled with false hopes” maybe you don’t HAVE to do research for an opinion piece, but hun at least having the slightest clue and not being completely ignorant on the topic is probably ideal. The company has over 10 million pounds of documented weight loss in the past 2 years. Once again this is documented and can easily be researched. Since you clearly don’t want to spend any time educating yourself on the topic at least do yourself a favor and stop attempting to write about it in places anyone can see. Your future employer may or may not be involved in ViSalus…. but I guarantee you they will know how to recognize when someone they are looking to hire is completely ignorant.
I never argued the losing weight aspect of the challenge. I dont doubt that people have lost weight. What I do doubt are the motives of these people. They are not trying to “change lives,” they are trying to make a quick buck by exploiting their friends. Again, here is where my problem lies. Don’t call me ignorant when your reading and comprehension is not quite up to par with mine.
How many of those who lost the weight actually kept it off? I personally know people who sell this who are very over weight, and I also know people who sell this who were way skinny before they started. I know many that tried this diet like all the other diets in the world and most gain it back and then some. The product has stuff in it that claims to be healthy, I’ve done the research on this and I know for a fact there are some unhealthy things in it. Some of these products also counteract badly with medications. It’s like all the rest of those products that come and go. Just another slim fast in my eyes. I’m just glad I didn’t fall for it. The whole concept of stop eating and take this product and you will be skinny is rediculous. Whole foods is the only way and yes you do need protein, but an over abundance can hurt some people. Over abundance of anything can hurt, especially synthetic products. Your body is real, eat real food, excercise and sleep right.
I spoke to someone a while ago about the product and scheduled a meeting because I really believed in it. She started talking about the BMW they pay for her and then I realized that what she was saying was almost like a recording, sounded like she had said this a lot of times before. After reading about the product online and in this review I will not try this.
As someone that has always maintained a healthy lifestyle by eating a well balanced diet and working out and staying active, I have to say that replacing a meal or two a day with a protein shake will result in weight loss. It’s quite simple, you cut calories you lose weight, there’s nothing magical about it. I’m being pressured by friends and family members to get involved in the body by vi challenge, with claims that it’s helping people with a multitude of diseases ranging from intestinal disorders to cancer. And I could win a free BMW, all I have to do is solicit my friends and family until they’re sick of me and dread seeing me.
I also have been approached, by my friends, to buy this product. I would feel aweful, because I know what junk is in this, to make money off my friends if I sold this.
Over a billion? really? 1/7 of the world will be involved?
The first time I heard about this Body By Vi stuff, I was skeptical. However, a person I know was really into it and invited me to a “party,” where I knew I would probably be treated to a sales-pitch. I went to be polite, because I like this person and consider her intelligent. She seemed really excited about it, so I figured it was worth a look.
At the party we sampled some of the shakes (which are actually pretty tasty) and were treated to testimonials from all the party’s hosts about how fantastic this product, this COMPANY was; and of course how much money they were making (or about to be making.)
Then we watched a presentation on DVD during which some very charismatic speakers got up in front of an audience in what looked like a conference center and asked them to GET EXCITED and stand up and raise the roof etc in support of how great their company and product were. The party hosts all did what the people in the video asked, raising their hands and cheering on cue, while myself and the other party-goers watched with much less enthusiasm. Their attitude was bizarre and cult-like. I can understand being excited about an “opportunity,” but I don’t believe a pyramid scheme presents real opportunity to anyone but the people running it. Although this company promises a lot, I think that really it’s preying on the hopes of people who used to know that a college education would get your foot in the door somewhere, which doesn’t seem so reassuring now with the economy in the dumps. This article is fine, but I think you should dig a little harder, explain what a pyramid scheme looks like (with a diagram or something) and then show how Body By Vi works the same way. People might be excited about the potential to make money, but they shouldn’t be excited about exploiting their friends or anyone else. Good work! Keep it up!
ha-ha I got suckered into this by a close friend. I tried it, and I know what its all about. Its just exploiting your friends to make a quick buck. That is all it is. You are selling something that really has no value. You can sell something to anyone when you are excited and have a couple of stock facts to spit out. Its all about mass deception. They have to indoctrinate you to be a success themselves. Everything they say is always sounds too good to be true and always is.
just wait until people come off the 90 day challenge, start eating regularly as they did before the challenge and blow up like balloons.
Uneducated article. all I have to say~ you know nothing about online marketing or online business’s let alone pyramid schemes. If you were really educated you would know that society itself is a pyramid scheme and sorry to say but your at the bottom of it because ur not educated. Stay in school and earn $50,000 a year working your ass off 40+ hours a week year round while I keep making $10,000 monthly for pretty much breathing. Educate yourself. not 1 +1 education but the Knowledge of Being! break the barriers.
Good for you to make money doing nothing. Unfortunately this article is not that far off base. If you are making money selling this garbage, fantastic, but its people like you that push family members and friends further and further away. I have two family members pushing this stuff so hard that i HAD to buy a tiny pouch of it for 50 bucks, which basically lasts 2 weeks. “oh just try it youll love it.” Ill admit, the few shakes that i have tried taste good, but for 100 dollars a month plus another 100 dollars a month for my wife? Get that crap out of here. BTW, i workout alot, im in fantastic shape. For 1/4 of the price and 10x the product Ill stick with my Gold Standard Whey protein and multivitamins over this snake oil anytime. Yes, it helps fat people lose weight because you are replacing cheeseburgers and fries with a healthy shake, im not disagreeing there. Over priced, over hyped, and quite frankly over sold by assholes like you that keeps me as far away as possible…sure, go ahead and make your “im rich and you’re not” or whatever comment it is to make yourself feel good about yourself. The author’s previous comment was dead on, ALL of you salespeople ARE the same.
$10,000 monthly doesn’t make me rich, it makes me financially stable. =)
&& also are you being paid to be in that fantastic shape your in?
Selling a product to people that’s full of crap is something you have to live with. I would never do it or sell knowing what I know now about nutrition.
Reality scammer I doubt you are even in shape. Put up or shut up. Post some pics stop selling junk shakes. Whole foods destroy your shakes
I dount you are even in shape. Put up or shut up. Post osme pics stop selling junk shakes. Whole foods destroy
lol @ba but are you getting paid? No ur not lol which is my point exactly. && ive never sold a product to any of my family members except my father because he saw the picture as soon as i showed him the dvd…and I’ve only spoke once about it to my friends i never shoved anything down their throats a few of them join also and they are in the big leagues with me. some people see it others don’t. sadly yes we do have some NEW entrepreneurs out there that don’t know how to promote because they were forced into the business by their friends out of pitty. they stay stuck on family and friends and keep them as crutches. these are usually the ones that don’t succeed and give up quickly…and when they do make profit they go out and waste it on shoes or candy, instead of re-investing into the business….simple as that. I don’t want people like that in my business that’s bad business, don’t give the entrepreneur world a bad name…when u have no idea the possibilities it can present when one does proper homework and makes this their top priority. the real entrepreneurs advertise online, and hang stuff up around town. those who are interested come to us not us to them. this is a business a save me of my debt foundation as some of these new entrepreneurs out here make it as. if anyone is interested in advice and if Visalus is to much money for you to join email me at [email protected] and let me show u how to run a business the correct way. don’t listen to this guy that doesn’t know diddly squat about being an entrepreneur. and even the writer contact me if ur interested as-well no hard feelings just letting u know like it is.
Here’s a hint for those of you who still don’t get it
