SGA announced the result in the Connell Student Center lobby Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. Election Marshall Jake McCarthy and current SGA President Savannah Lackey rolled out a banner with the results: 623 votes for Allen/Yeager and 411 for Bearden/Mills.

Mercer’s Student Government Association held its 2021 Presidential Debate in the Connell Student Center Wednesday night at 7 p.m. The event featured discussions between presidential candidates Rylan Allen and Ashton Bearden and vice presidential candidates Natalie Yeager and Caleb Mills.

Mobilize Mercer and Real Talk came together to organize Middle Ground, a “deliberative dialogue” for the Mercer community to take a deep look into what they feel following the demonstration at the Capitol. The event was held Jan. 18 in Willingham Auditorium. Masks and social distancing guidelines were enforced.

L. Lin Wood, a Mercer Law graduate and prominent pro-Trump lawyer, pledged a donation of $1 million to the school in 2016. In return, the school named a courtroom after him. Since then, he has amassed a large social media following due to his support of conspiracy theories surrounding the 2020 presidential election. He called Mercer Law students "brainwashed" after a Zoom call with Dean Cathy Cox where they discussed the future of his legacy at Mercer.
