Molly Stevens, a Macon native and former contestant on "The Voice," is holding her album release party at Society Garden on Ingleside Road September 29. By Thais Ackerman.

On Sept. 29, Macon-raised artist Molly Stevens will host a release show for her new album “Here & Now, Vol. 1” at the Society Garden starting at 9 p.m.

The show is designed to make listeners “experience heart and soul, truth and a lot of fun,” Stevens said. She went on to say that the show will consist of a “full band...but there will be broken down moments as well.”

According to its website, the Society Garden is “an outdoor beer garden and wine bar in historic Ingleside Village” and is located at 2389 Ingleside Ave. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own food and chair; however, no outside drinks are allowed.

Stevens describes herself as a “singer-songwriter” that “tend(s) to dip in the country music genre and Americana genre.”  However, she says that at heart she is “all about the lyrics and a melody behind (the music).”

According to her website, mollystevensmusic.com, she “grew up in Macon, GA, singing in church and at many revivals led by her grandfather.”  The influence of her childhood can be heard in the song “Roots” off of her new album when she sings the line “Sunday morning church, we were packing in the pews/ grandaddy in the pulpit, preaching about good news.”

Stevens has been singing her entire life and grew up on television and radio.

“It took me later on in my twenties to find my truth...my voice,” Stevens said.  “And I continue to dig deeper into who I am and bring that to my music. I honestly feel like I'm just beginning.”

Stevens returns to Macon from Nashville for this show only.  She says that she is “so excited” about the album release show and that she is “extremely excited to be bringing (her) Nashville folks down with (her).”

General admission tickets can be purchased in advance at eventbrite.com or at the door and are $10 a piece.
